[#7245807]

I'm going to the isle of man this august, as we do every year, I wondered where the best riding was?

I don't mind climbing, or a little bit of fire road, as long as the descent is worth it! But techy climbs and good views are best!

Any advice would be great, and good road loops are welcome as we are taking both!

Cheers, Mathew

Where have you ridden when you've been over before? - I'm only asking as there's not much point in telling you about stuff you already know.
Basically you'll find something good in pretty much any plantation that you go to, especially (in no particular order) Arrasey, Cringle, Ballure, Sky Hill, Ballaugh, Tholt-y-Will.
Plus all the open hill stuff, cheeky and non-cheeky.......
Another thing is to have a look at the Manx Mountain Bike Club and Loaghtan Loaded Facebook pages to see what social rides are on while you're over, plus feel free to email me (in profile) and I'll give you some more detailed info or, if you don't mind being seen with an old biffer, I'll happily come out and show you some of my local stuff.

I forgot to mention Brookdale plantation, so if you were in the north around Ramsey one day you could take in the stuff in Ballure, then up to the top of Brookdale, down through there to Glen Auldyn, then back up to the top of Sky Hill and down through there, one way or another.
Then up the Sky Hill road onto the open moorland and down one of any number of ways to Sulby/Sulby Glen.

Drop me line anyway if you feel like.

You won't hold an old fart like me up, and besides, I always enjoy showing people new stuff.

Kerrow dhoo has a couple of amazing trails that were used in the last enduro. Linked up with the trails in cringle and maybe an assault on South barrule would make for a brilliant afternoons riding. If you are heading up glen auldyn be sure to pay a visit to the cartwrights trail for some steep bermy excellence.
