steel rock lobster, muddy natural trails. Usual winter guise put on yesterday of 2.1 trailrakers each end. wondering if it would be better with a nevegal on front ? think I will give it a go ? what's the worst that can happen !

not switching away from trailraker on the rear as it is ideal for gloopy Mugdock where that bikes spends much of its life, and not fussed about the drag overly.

Surely if its really muddy then you need a mud tyre on the front so you can steer?? The back is more likely to manage without a mud tyre surely? Last winter I ran a trailraker on the front and a 2.35 HR on the back (bought originally for Moab) that was surprisingly good. I was able to keep going uphill on the Salisbury Plain challenge long after most had quit and were pushing.

I've never felt the need to run a TR on the front. I guess it all depends on what kind of mud you live with though. Mine are mostly used in snow.

Ian I've been running a 2.35 stick-e Nevegal up at Mugdock in the gloop and it hasn't been too bad. I wouldn't fancy it in the depths of winter but for our current winter/ summer hybrid, it's been ok.

thanks. Bob - good to hear that, might stick my 2.1 Nevegal on and give it a pop with that combination. TR's are great there but was getting narked on Wed sliding around on the greasy rocks - Nevegals are much grippier on that stuff, likes of the steep climb from the golf course bridge up to the Westie etc.
