Thanks Simon. I've posted a link on the Hamsterley Trailblazers forum.
Thereโs a black route, which includes 10ft drops and the need for American football-style body armour and full suspension bikes to withstand the punishment.
I love it when non-MTBers write about MTBing ๐
On this undulating rocky downhill it is best I lay off my front brake altogether, as using it at speed is the easiest way to go over the handlebars.
What a lot of sh1t this woman writes did she actually ride this route or did she just sit in the caff and make it up

Seems like she knows more about mountain biking than you already. ๐

On undulating rocky stuff, laying off the front brake is exactly what I'd do...
Hamsterley beginners route could in no shape or form be described as rocky enough to lay off the front brake. Its a smooth blue route round a wood.
If your too scared to use the front brake your doing it wrong
That article said precisely nothing and went nowhere. What a wasted opportunity.
Everyone always whines about mountain bike articles in mainstream press - I don't see what's wrong with it.

So she wouldn't really need to use the front brake much then? ๐ If she is a beginner and not used to using hydraulic disc brakes she could pretty easily go over the bars by grabbing a handful of front brake.
what on earth is wrong with that article? Okay the Body Armour bit is a bit ott but other than that thought it was okay and could encourage people out
The body armour bit probably refers to the Downhill course I imagine.

She was riding the Skills Loop, not the Grove Link.

I think it does, but it's written like she's talking about the Black.
