Asside from:

*Being essentialy brakeless (1 rubbish rear brake, chromed rim)
*With a slick rear tyre (no space for nobblies, its a park frame)
*Everywhere being coated in a nice sheen of mud.

Am I being irresponsible in trying to make some sort of challenge out of their mediochrity?

I've seen kids on BMX's further round a trail centre than I'd have though possible. Quite humbling. If they survive it'll give them the foundation skills to be awesome riders.

Just checked, tonight's a washout, so I'll definately be hitting the singletrack by BMX rather than the jumps ๐Ÿ™‚

If they survive it'll give them the foundation skills to be awesome riders.

Only thing that'd put me off would be the pedalling to the top. Should make for a fun ride otherwise, just like taking a rigid, makes the trails very different.

Wouldn't want to do it on my bmx with a track gear, the climb would be torture. But the descent would be fun, just manual and hop everything, and enjoy the look on everyone's face (especially if you go past anyone).

I rode down a steep long set of gravel stairs the other day on my bmx. One brake, slick tyres. Was surprisingly easy, when I was at the top I was thinking it was gonna go wrong somehow.

I'd also suggest running as low as possible psi on the front, otherwise you're going to kill your hands and wrists.

sounds like a waste of time to me. What you trying to prove?
An old friend rode an old national DH track at inners on a street bmx with one brake to "prove how lame DH is" before he ****ed off out of the DH race scene to hang around with BMXerers.
also saw a fat rugger bugger type bloke in fancy dress (kinda) manage a far harder local DH track on a folding shopper.

Think I might go ride my mountain bike.

Think I might go ride my road bike.

Think I might enter a 24 hour race.

Think I might watch some TV.

sounds like a waste of time to me. What you trying to prove?

Well I didn't die, and it was quite cool, suprisingly little pedaling required, just pumped the corners ๐Ÿ™‚

Geraing is 27-13 (park gears)
