Deore hubs with something like a 521 rim? Not in any way glamorous but cheap and sturdy.
Deores won't fit I imagine, don't think they come in those axle configurations
Im with gaverin and daveh -secondhand pro2's would be my choice, if I couldn't afford new, everything to rebuild them is easily available, and they've got great support.
Otherwise, assuming you're on a build from a frame only, try hunting down a secondhand set of the Specialized Roval wheels that come on a lot of their bikes- because the rear wheel is 142+, not plain old 142 the rear will only fit Specialized frames, limiting the market for them. If you let the seller know that, and play hardball you might be able to get a pair pretty cheap.

Someone on the swinley facebook page just narrated his new SS wheel collapsing as all the spokes went lose, and I have read several posts and reviews which say that they were all right after SS straighten them back up as they had gone out of true soon after they got them.

I actually need to replace the rovals. Will standard 142 rear hubs fit a specialised if the 142+ is different?
Superstar and a mate who can rebuild them in case they turn wonky after a few rides. (amongst our mates we have 2 sets hardly ridden and still straight, and 2 sets that went loose after a few rides and re-tensioned). But unless you already have hubs or rims to use, you might as well buy them as you save circa 20% on buying the rim/hub/spokes and if you were building or getting them built anyway, you haven't really lost anything.

I was tempted by Superstar but I wanted the Mavic 721 rims and had to add a supplement for the axle I needed - which brought them to £220.
Hope Hoops were £270-ish so I went for them instead.
