I can't afford to change my fork, although I'd like to, so need to service my 100mm Tora 302 solo air. I'd also like to see if it's possible to increase its travel to 120mm.
This will be the first time i've dismantled a fork, and don't want to balls it up !
However I'm confused by oil volumes and weights. I went to LBS to ask if they had a service kit ( they didn't). They also suggested I needed 7wt oil for the entire service and that I'd probably get away with seals, as long as they dont currently leak and if I'm careful.
Sram's manual reckons that I need both 5wt and 15wt for r/h leg and 15wt for l/h leg. I'm more inclined to go with Sram, but can anyone give me any do's dont's or pointers for this job ( Apart from buying Rebas of Floats !)? In fairness the Tora clunks a bit on top out, but gets the job done reasonably well and aint worn out yet after a couple of thousand quite hard miles.

There are good instructions on the sram site.

I have had my sram forks apart many times and never needed to replace a seal

The 15 wt is just for lube, the 5 is for the damper. Just buy a bottle of each from halfords or a motorcycle shop - its not expensive.

take you time - sketch or photograph the order of components if you are unsure but I found the guides on the sram site enough

You'll just need to follow the technical manual for the year of the fork 😀

Thanks folks. Oil weights make more sense now TJ ! I usually take pics as I go when taking stuff apart first time.
Anyone gots thoughts on the travel spacers ? Or will that be blindingly obvious whether there are , or aren't, when I get on with the service ?
