I have the same issue without the +'s
I could buy any of the following ...
Lightweight 29xc hardtail (arguably the best suited to the majority of riding but also the most restrictive in overall terms and would leave some dependency on the existing rougher specd hardtail)
Short travel 29 long ride/ lighter fs
Mid travel FS in 29 or 27.5 flavour
Too much choice - if I had less I would have bought something by now...

I thought I had too much choice, but created a thread about one option and promptly bought from the first reply.
I am becoming something of a bike swapper though. Buy something, ride it, try something else.
27+ and B+ are the same thing no?
29+ seems to have been stifled by the rush to 27/B+ and only having a choice of 3 tyres (one being impossible to get in the uk)

Yeah! I've been away for 10 years and it's all gone very confusing…

Only constant seems to be this:

I think I'll get a Kona Rove, though - just while I decide what kind of proper bike to get.
I think what's 'stifling' 29+ is not 27+ but the fact that most riders are too short to handle a wheel that large, especially if suspension is needed.
What's the height cut off point do you reckon?
I think it depends on how strong and heavy you are and how you like to ride a bike (more aggressive or more subtle weight shifts). I'm slightly taller than average, fairly strong and active on the bike and I wouldn't want my bars any higher than a 27.5 wheel and 160mm forks demand and that bike has a stack height of 590mm, same as the smallest Krampus. Based on that I doubt that less than 50% of the male market would get on well with unsuspended 29+ (and a vanishingly small proportion of the female market) for singletrack style (and any gnarlier) riding. And with suspension added, even fewer. 27+ takes 40mm off the minimum stack height so will fit riders down to approximately 3" shorter.
For bike-packing or similar I can see 29+ wheels working for almost all heights of rider, because corners and technical sections are a low priority compared to covering easier terrain quickly on long rides. But that's very niche...
