Dunno if you need it to improve your ride, but it works great at work when you said you have a 6k bike 😉

No. I'd say you need to spend a lot more than that if it's an all singing all dancing full susser.

3K on a singlespeed for going down the pub on is about right though. 🙄

You don't need the £20k car, the £500k house or the £3k mtb, it depends on what you want, how much you have to spend, and how much you want to spend.

There will be people on here with 2x £20k cars but will spend £300 on a bike and people who will have a £3k car but £10k worth of bikes in the garage. Poor quality troll. 1/10

No. £3k is not enough. Also, its better to have 2 or 3, more if you can, and one for the wife and one each for the kids... I have just realised why I’m always skint! Not to worry, at least I’m happy. 😀

"3k carbon full susser with TF-tuned shocks and cobalt wheelsets??? Joplin seatposts?"

That sounds like a bargain frankly for that, or secondhand

Also (different person), £20k for a car? You make it sound like a lot for a car?
Make it a decentish sized estate with a decentish sized engine to keep your ecomony up on the motorway and I thought most brands would easily tip £20k?

If you buy new cars. The most expensive car I ever bought was £1700 and I went halves with the gf. My bike's total cost is quite a bit more than that now 😛

I have had five cars in my life.
Sum total spent buying them would just about buy frame, wheels and front brake of race-bike.
It's all about priorities.
No qualms spending over £5K on my bike, could never justify that for a car, nor indeed afford a car that cost that without selling said bike. (first car cost as much as the gear cables on the current race-bike!)

Having said that, I've mostly driven cars costing a couple of hundred, until my most recent which was couple of thousand. Drove a Ferrari at a track day, I can see why people buy them, and can justify £150K if they want one that much. Same with bikes I guess, £500 bike is great until you ride a £5K all singing one and realise the difference.

Can you really get a quality carbon full suspension bike with pushed shocks and CB wheels for that cheap? I've been seriously ripped off!

I've read 3 threads this morning. 1 about a pair of boobs in the background on a shitty tv show, 1 about how hilarious the word 'muff' is and this one, well I didn't read this one as it is totally pointless. The quality of STW is seriously on the decline. 🙁

I blame tachers and the stoner/CFH/padeo labrat for having the little noisy one banned.

But yeah stw is going down, but at least I can focus on work 😉

That implies that it has been high at some point. Which I strongly doubt. 😉

DezB ... surely you just stop reading? Prior to those three aforementioned threads, STW was populated by unadulterated incisive comment on current affairs and carefully constructed discussion on bike related matters? It is the internet after all, lady bits make up 90% of available content ... or something.

I'm sure it makes you jealous that somebody can afford a bike which is over their "skill-level".

I seem to have lost my documentation regarding the approved skill-level / bike setup. Could you pass me a copy?

I much prefer seeing over priced, over blinged bikes to Chavs in their blinged up death trap Saxo’s…

Spend what you want/can afford/justify, ride where and how you choose, in all honesty the only person who’s approval you really need is your own, impressing peers/strangers with a bicycle is irrelevant… Does my opinion of your purchases really affect you in any way?

Again, Poor troll…
