...as above. The LHS pedal on my road bike is absolutely fast. I've tried soaking in WD40 and the brute force approach.
I'm definitely turning the right way (now!). Steel spindle in an aluminium crank arm.
I'd say it's been on there for 4 years untouched; these days I use something to prevent seizing, but can't vouch for what I did back then.

The more leverage the better, so use a long handled spanner. Put a piece of metal tubing over the handle if you've got one, to make it longer. If that fails, try the allen key in from the other side. If that fails LBS.
If you've got the crank off, bung it in the freezer for a couple of hours then hit it with a big hammer to break the corrosion.
If the crank is still on the bike apply heat and hit with a big hammer. Heat could be a kettle full of boiling water or a blow torch.
An alternative to WD40 is PlusGas.

Usually I find that positioning the tool so as you are squeezing the tool and the crank arm [u]together[/u] rather than pulling apart helps. Imagine the tool/arm in the 'five to twelve' position rather than the 'quarter past three' position, if you see what I mean.
Get a big spanner and stand on it and the pedal, should soon free up then (If your 15 stone like me!) Just make sure you use a good quality spanner with good flats! (Probably not a thin one.)
Also, try some penetrating spray, Wurth do a really good one, halfords will do an equivalent. That then breaks down the corrosion, rather than being a corrosion inhibiter (or water dispersant like WD40)
penatration fluid, leave it to soak, pour boiling water on it to get it evapourationg, then get spanner and a long lever and it will come loose.
if it doesn;t work first time, repeat it, and it should come off.

Wifes bike has 'look'mtb pedals on (the ones that only have the alen key to remove) think they are the titanian spindal ones anyway guy thet fited them locktighted them on! i cant shift them very near the point where the alen key rounds, they are on XT cranks - removal suggestions?
Cranks off and soak in rust penetrator (should start to break up the bond)
Hope they didnt use stud lock, which is permanent...
Heat will also work, quite a lot of it!

Just resurrecting this post to give some thanks to DJ Cycles in Holcombe Brook near Bury.
After putting most of the STW suggestions to good use it was still knacked. The folks at DJ Cycles had it off in minutes, using a 2ft wrench and a vice. Much appreciated and I will be back (not just when I get another pedal stuck!).

nice one. Trail monkey was right and that's what i do too. Push a long tube over the top of the pedal spanner to increase leverage.
I find that the bottom half of the kids swingball pole fits nicely!
