Finding they they either tighten easily or keep turning even when using the chainring bolt tool.
I'm using shortened chainring bolts for SS and thinking I might use spacers for the 2 bolts giving me grief.
I'm using std cranks with a SS chainring, allen key and fork tool for chain ring bolts.
Is there a technique for this as it looks simple enough but the tool won't stay in place as I tighten using the allen key.
Thanks for any advice.
Help Bump!
I don't quite understand where you are going wrong, you need to hold the chainring bolt spanner tight (with the prongs engagued in the resesses of the chainring bolt) against the chainring, and turn the otherside of the bolt with an allen key, is this what you are doing?
Yep but the chainring bolt spanner isn't gripping like its not deep enough in the groooves where it fits.
I've just bought a new spanner think the old one is worn.
Will post if all goes well.
Well I took them off and after a quick clean and some emery cloth I was able to tighten them up by doing it very slowly.
Hope it helps anyone else.
