I'm considering purchase of a Ti 100mm hardtail frame & just wodered what peoples thoughts were on fitting either a Ti, carbon, or Scandium seatpost??
Any rides benefits of either in a Ti frame?

I've got a Ti seatpost in my Ti frame. To be honest I didn't really notice much benefits over the alu post it replaced other than being a lot lighter and nicer looking.

There's an alu sleeve/shim in the seatpost to minimise any binding problems caused by the seatpost interface with the frame.

It's not usually a problem on smooth joins (much more with threaded joins like a Ti BB) but use CoppaSlip if you put a Ti seatpost in and specific carbon grease if you use a carbon post.

I've gone from a Thomson to a Ti post on my Ti frame and I certainly felt the difference. It's made the ride loads comfortable.

Carbon post in my Ti frame, a lot comfier than the alloy one I had previously, but, it does seem to 'seize' in - not sure why.

I had a carbon post in my Ti frame and it was fine. Then I got a Ti post and it's been amazing. Wish Id done it ages ago.

Thanks, Ti post seems favourite.

Is Scandium much different to Ti or more like aluminium?

I have a Ti post that moves around all my bikes: cos if your bike is not 27.2 it's a bit rubbish and I can get an inch of travel out of my Ti post.

Go Ti.

Charlie - its 31.6. Are you saying bigger than 27.2 will be stiff but 27.2 is narrow enough to have some flex?

2nd the van nic post - I've got two on the go and they do add a lot of comfort over a Thomson etc.

Cheers, 31.6 in line currently out of stock!
Heavier than a Thomson though.
