Just bougtht a new bike as the cheapest way to upgrade my lovely trek with some new parts...
fitted the slx chainset only to find the pedal to be threaded and ruin the thread in the crank arm. thought i would try taking it to an engineering shop to fit a helicoil. this has been done, but on the wrong angle... now when you pedal it feels like a whisk... I guess now i throw a brand new crank in the bin eigh??? ouch £££

Is it the non drive side? Can you live with odd arms?

i think it would look really good with odd crank arms, but it is the drive side with the problem...i can keep the rings as spares but so far that is the only positive i think..

I don't understand why the SLX comes with a steel pedal insert on the double and bash set up, but not on the triple set up. You'd think they'd all be the same wouldn't you?
