Having built up and old frame as a SS bike, I was going to go with old shed tyres. However after reading a few threads on here, it seems that rear grip is a must.
So I was going with a Panaracer Fire XC pro rear, & N Nic / Maxxis advantage front for dry/loamy parts of the year, then Bonty Mud X or winter.
However, some might say Bonty mud X on the rear is an all year round function for SS?
In which case shall I just leave Mud X's on both ends all year?
Thoughts / advice on SS tyre setup please?
Whatever you get on with normally.
Or try it and see instead of overthinking it?
I don't see a benefit to mud tyres when it's not muddy.
+1
Ok, so just as a normal MTB, and no specific setup for SS?
i just used the same tyres as i would on my geared mountainbike, some of which were in the shed
rear grip is a must.
nonsense, imo, i use a vulpine when it's dry and it's fine. any tyres will do.
Yeah no different to geared if suspension fork, most prefer a bigger volume tyre than normal on the front if running rigid is all.
Excellent, I can use the shed tyres and save some cash, thanks all.
Christ! If you have a large stock of shed tyres just see which set/combo works best for you. Stop trying to spend more than you need to. ๐
