I used to have one of these that doubled up as a shoulder rest when carrying the bike over stiles etc. Do they all do this? Looking to buy another one as the original is long gone. There's loads on Ebay, but not sure if it depends on how they attach to the frame as to whether it'll be taut when the frame is balanced on one's shoulder.
Anyone know what I'm on about?
Sort of. I did buy a cheap corner triangle bag as a bit of extra luggage space on the commuter, but it wasn't taut unless stuffed, and didn't really hold enough to be worth the bother. Still for a couple of quid you might as well try for yourself.
Wow!!!!! just WOW!!!! completely forgotten about that.......
Fully awesome 8)
Of course, to complete the look, you're going to need to get some Revolver in there as well;
Yes, that is a Tushingham B52, folks...! And therein lies a bit of the story around these things. This was the time that windsurfing had been booming, and so lots of companies were making brightly coloured doodads* to pad, strap and accessorise your rad rig.
*Zefal, obviously.

Those corner bags were useful when we used to carry our steel-framed full rigids up mountains on our shoulders. I've still got mine in my box of bits.
i got an ebay one, didnt last too long, had to be tightly fitted to the frame so it didnt stray/move, held an inner and tools, first puncture i got i undid the zip and the fabric split - it wasnt overloaded just the fact it had to be really tightly mounted.
IMHO go for a brand name with good reviews.
Zefal rear mud-catcher: tick.
Thanks back2basics, yeah I only need it to carry a spare tube etc, just don't like wearing a rucksack. And if it makes it easier to carry the bike, then it does two jobs and earns its place.
Oh those pics bring back happy memories. Shooting round on my black and white Raleigh mustang with floro bag and cables. Nice ๐
Yup had one on my 88 rockhopper comp! Great storage but I think I shouldered it maybe twice!
Can't beat a bit o'retro.. Love the 3-fluo fade on that Marin. 87 Raleigh with Cosmic Trail in pink, matching cables and a swan-neck stem upgrade here. Used to be into windsurfers around that time and raced bikes at the circuit around the local windsurf shop's lake. Bought my 1st Orange there. Wasn't there a link with Tushingham in the early days?
memories as well. Mine was a (faded) yellow Specialized one which eventually fell to bits.
Still have its replacement, black Marin one.
find it useful on short events, just to stuff an inner tube or tools into without faff of backpack, even small Camelbak. Still on my M2 from 10UTB actually..
Beerbabe does some brilliant little ones made out of recycled inner tubes... I have one!
