[#2653121]

Looking for something helmet mounted to compliment my cheap-as-chips Magicshine '900' lumen handlebar mounted thingy...

The above '200' lumen eBay torches seem like they might be alright - when used with a few bits of velcro etc. to hold in place.

What are people's experiences?

I've got 2 - the lightweight one:

and a slightly heavier one:

I've settled on using the heavier one. The increased power and flood makes a lot of difference.

I bought a helmet mount at the same time, but ended up just using the velcro straps from it, as they held the torch closer to the helmet, reducing the weighty feel.

I think it's absolutely perfect. One battery is always enough if you turn it off for the less technical bits.

Some links to the other bits and bobs:

(there are a few other batteries, but these have been great for me).

If you want something that runs on AA's:

Sounds great! but... how long does this sort of stuff take to turn up from DX these days?

(Due to general impatience and a lack of planning, I always seem to need this stuff asap!)

If I make a substantial order (a couple of torches and the charging gear), then it takes < 2 weeks. But a single cheap item can take 4+ weeks.
If in a rush, you can probably find the same items on ebay from uk sellers for a bit more cash.

I'm also using the "heavier one" from post above helmet mounted. Does a superb job in conjunction with a P7 on the bars (same emitter as your Magicshine but in torch format) and plenty enough runtime for an after-work ride. Not much use if you're doing a 24hr event, but then you knew that already. Highly recommended.

Get a torch with an XM-L emitter in it. Great value and performance but as with anything cheaper the build quality won't compare to Exposure, Hope etc
