Should I simply trade my current ride in at my lbs against a new ride or would I get more value by selling private as a complete bike or as individual parts, always traded in before but just want some advice please, thanks.

Be prepared to get royally bummed if you trade in.
Remember that they have to be able to sell it on so won't offer you anything near what you'd like for it.

If its good kit that's in demand then selling it in parts usually gives best rewards

Transporter +1.

Options from lowest effort to highest effort:
1. Trade in at LBS. Easy.
2. Sell complete bike on STW Classifieds, eBay, etc. More effort.
3. Break bike down into frame and components, sell on STW Classifieds, eBay, etc. Can be a lot of time and effort.

The amount of money that you would expect to get is proportional to the effort; 3>2>1. More work, but you should bet more money out of it. It all depends on how much time you're willing to spend and how badly you need the money.

There was nothing really wrong with my Scott Yekora about 15 years ago...
I've wanted, and got about 10 bikes since it though. Some just cause they look a bit pretty.(And sold over half, I do not have 11 bikes..)

Is that not how it works for most people? I am not gonna just ride my bike till it turns to dust then get a new one.
