I need some clear bike-tape protector to stick to seat stays but I have found the 3M copter tape is too thick and lifts up on the edges over time. BikeTart used to sell some good tape but appear out of stock - any suggestions?
Shack Wrap do generic kits and also blank sheets which are thinner than the 3M (similar to Invisiframe).
You can also get clear gorilla type tape from the likes of B&Q which works well - does come off easier than helicopter tape (can be pealed off) for replacing every so often.
Old inner tube. Have one wrapped around the chain stays and the seat stays.
It's ghetto, but it works.
Thanks Fossy - just been and got some of the Gorilla clear tape
Any pics of what it looks like with the Gorilla tape?
Does it go and come off nicely?
I find the clear Gorilla tape a PITA to work with. It doesn't have backing so it's very hard to get on without finger print marks. It does leave a residue when you take if off, but it cleans up easily enough with IPA.
Zefal do a generic kit. You'll find it on Amazon. Contains pre cut pieces to do top tube down tube and seat stays. It's a lot thinner than the 3M stuff but easy to apply and stick really well. Also pretty cheap compared to Invisiframe
Gorilla tape clear is ok as a stop gap but it is not easy to do neatly. Its designed to tear easily which makes it a pain for this usage and also means it has a crap 'serrated' edge.
Clear all weather tape.
I emailed Invisiframe a while back and they sold me a rear triangle only kit. I still haven't quite gotten around to fitting it though...
