We all had a jolly lovely time at Thetford this weekend. Great atmosphere and everyone was super friendly.

The obligatory race report - http://teamcycleaid.blogspot.co.uk/2013/06/carry-on-cramping-thetford-summer.html

Yeah, was a great event. Well organised, good course, friendly people and its was dry! What's not to like? ๐Ÿ™‚

Did the 8hr solo and made a mere of liquid intake though, too strong an energy concentration making me feel sick so backed off and then got a slamming headache. Fully rigid SS was a bit brutal too! Live and learn.

Happy days.

Yep, brilliant event. Only the climb up plum buster to spoil things. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I did spot a couple of riders taking "short cuts" however. ๐Ÿ™„

Excellent course, really enjoyed it!

I did the 8hr solo as well, I tried a slightly different strategy on the hydration front, and brought some beer along. Stopped for a quick glass at 3 hours and 6 hours. It was most excellent!

I did spot a couple of riders taking "short cuts" however.

Good grief. ๐Ÿ™„

Loved it, really nice lap and flowed really well, lots of places to pass and be passed. If people were cutting the course, they're cheating themselves.

Only bits I didn't like we're the soft grass bit near the end and going up plumb buster, next time can we go up the gravel hill.....

Despite a few mechanicals and a spot of cramping my partner and I managed third in ten hour pairs. Course was quick, typical Thetford and fun.

Properly flat today though!

I think I enjoyed it. I had been suffering from a bit of a bug running up to the event, but as I was pre-entered thought I may as well race anyway. It is always great to race on a dry dusty course, and the atmosphere was very friendly, with a lots of passing places on the course.

I was in the 8hr solo and did consider quitting after 2-3hrs as I just felt like I was going backwards on the fire roads. I can normally keep up a decent pace on them at Thetford, but yesterday my legs felt dead. However decided I was having too much fun riding in sun and just carried on riding, by the end I actually really started to enjoy it. Except Plum Buster that I hated every lap!
