I'm looking for a 26" long travel frame to build up as a winter project. Only I'm struggling to find a decent one for a max of around £1k. There are plenty of 27.5" bargains but zero bargains in a 26" flavour.

Has the world really sold out of 26" frames?

Is my only option a used frame?

Any suggestions?

If you find a 120mm full suspension whilst you're looking, please tell. It's got to have 135mm rear spacing and take 1 1/8 steerer too...

Flapjack

We know a shop where he bought some Scott carbon 120mm fs frames just before 650b happened.......

http://www.walliscycles.com/acatalog/copy_of_Mountain_Bikes.html

That price is for complete bike but I'm sure he'd sell a frame only. Adaptors for 135 I think. Not sure on headset but no problem to fit 1 1/8 in a tapered frame anyway.

Got a carbon nomad in the classified, falls under the 26 inch flavour

Edit: unless I've missed that you're looking for a hardtail

You might find a Liteville 301 for that if you're lucky

Plenty of great frames available used. My 26 Covert is far from worn out and I was gutted to hear of a 26 Bandit whuch went very cheap recently. You may get lucky with something, I have a brand new PA Classic waiting to be built up, it's been in the box for 3 years. Not for sale but you might find something similar in FS.

I have an old Regin frame, lightly used, was the model with 150mm forks from 2006/7. Probably too old for you but you can have it for free.

I wonder how many of those actually get sold? I quite fancy one myself but they don't seem as popular as [s]the fanboy brands[/s] other UK designed or made frames?

£991 for a boutique brand frame with a shock that costs nearly half of that alone.

Or wait until the Kona Process Frame-Only option arrives, it's new, new rather than New-Old-Stock.

Cheers dudes - loads of ideas there.

Not especially into carbon though, so I'll give them a swerve.

@jambalaya - might be interested in that 2007 Reign as I'm dipping into my my parts box for most of this build so an older frame would be great as an experiment. What size is it, and would you be prepared to bag it up and post if I chucked a few beer tokens your way? I'm up in the NE so picking it up would be an issue! :o)
