My wife has horses, I really don't want to know what she spends.
And as far as mtb goes, while she doesn't ask me how much stuff costs, she's not daft. In fact compared to the Pikeur (Google it; lots of posh totty in jodphurs) horse gear she wears, Gore's quite reasonable...
have a casual google of new things that turn up in your shed/garage
not if she doesn't have a key...
We all lie to our partners if we want to stay with them. We don't tell them who else we fancy, or all our thoughts or when they are looking more ugly than usual. It is rude to be completely honest about everything to someone. So a bit of fibbing about bikes is small beer really.
I've never lied about the cost of things but i have been a little swift to write off some of the more hated components to justify replacements when maintenance would have done - a very heavy wheelset went that way after i had to repeatedly strip the thing for clean and lube and there was a nicer set online at half price.
Slightly off topic but I was in The North Face shop at an outlet village recently overhead bloke saying (whilst trying said item on) "oh this is a nice jacket and it's only £200"
Missus: but you don't need another coat.
Him: But this is Goretex and I don't have a Goretex coat
Missus: but you have a coat and it's £200 a bit much for a coat.
Him: But you spent £500 on a handbag
Missus: but that's different.
I nearly spat everywhere WTF £500 on a handbag and she's moaning about him spending £200 on a Goretex coat .... mm what a muppet! Mr MC buys what the heck he likes and vice versa, as long as house and bills are covered I can spend my salary how I like. Last week I collected 3 parcles from the PO and yesterday ANOTHER chain reaction parcel arrived! Hoping somewhere there is my Christmas present .... but I'm deluded aS I know Mr MC won't be that organised ;-0

speak for yourself. honesty and rudeness are two completely different things and if you have vaguely decent social skills it is perfectly feasable to be honest without hurting someone's feelings.
But of course we don't share every thought, that's not lying tho is it? the only person I know who speaks all their thoughts is dyspraxic therefore can't help it.
I lie to mine all the time. Probably not the healthiest basis for a relationship but i just cant be arsed with the inevitable drama that would come with telling the truth and them finding out about each other. 😀
