Our regular ride over the Cleish Hills and over to Falkland was the busiest I've ever seen it with loads of roadies of all ages. The Dutch cycle tourists we passed pushing the heavily laden bikes uphill must have thought they were back home.
The Pillars of Hercules cafe saw more bikers than regular punters. I live on a national cycle route and have been amazed at the numbers of folk I've seen out on their bikes. The good weather has helped, but I'd like to think its the positive influence of the Olympics that has inspired them all.
Is it the same where you are?
Box Hill was a MAMIL zoo today.
Rest of the roads didn't seem that much more cyclist-heavy than usual
not been out today, but last few weeks have been VERY odd, yes there are a lot of bikes about, but i am being given space by overtaking cars! I know it sounds odd but usually the cars moved the minimum needed to get past, but last couple of weeks cars have slowed down indicated and pulled out to come past*.
* Obviously some cars aren't but as a proportion of the total it has been a marked change.
some yoofs ran along side me on my final climb home today shouting "go on wiggins" an "GB!GB!GB!". Was actually kind of fun!
Ive been getting shouts of -
Go cav go
Go Wiggo
Allez Allez Allez
From the local kids in the last couple of weeks
Usually I get -
Who ate all the pies
Hurry up fatty
So it's been quite nice to be honest
Seemed pretty busy with roadies on the way down to GT today..
I was walking the dog just outside Saline last night and a lot of road cyclists out. Various clubs and non affiliated. Great to see and all were courteous to drivers.
