Same here, but I have been drinking!

Just black here....but then i have not been drinking.

Rayleigh scattering causes blue wavelenths of light and because sun is so low, with a lot of atmosphere to get through, quite a bit of yellow and green light to be absorbed by the nitrogen and oxygen molecules in the atmosphere and then re-imitted all over the place, scattered. This makes the sun appear to be red/orange. (red sky at night) This light is then scattered by snow in the atmosphere.

Well- that's my guess ❓

I saw that last night just walking back from boozer in brum

reflection of streetlights bouncing of the snow and up into the clouds

And that makes all the difference, the Sky is often orangey red in the winter through out the night.

Just i'd never noticed it before. down to light pollution then so I guessed right, It is very wierd though

Urban glow. Living right on the south coast we see it looking north, looking south its just dark. Always there but as has been said above, the lights reflecting off the snow increases the effect.

It was a very orange evening.
