Didn't JMC once finish a DH on a rim? I seem to remember a pic of Mike King at Mammoth railing the Kamikaze on a rim as well!

That's impressive.
He says the rim is intact. I bet a tubeless or tubed rim would have been screwed (he's riding mtb tubs)
