Training day at school so actually finished early enough to get a Friday ride in for the first time in ages. Weird trail conditions - either hard and icy or melted and muddy - often both in the same 10m of trail... Take your pick of which version of no grip you prefer!
@TheArtistFormerlyKnownAsSTR does the now adjusted mudguard offend thine eye less this week? 😛
Lunchtime jaunt between Teams’ meetings. Minus 5 and blue sky everywhere except for a swirling cap of cloud up on the ridge. It gave the light a strange, eerie quality.

My weekend also started on Friday so I got out while the trails were frozen over.
It's better, yes 🤣
Can't stand rear mudguards on mtb's full stop, not just yours 😉

Stopped at the brewery on the way home last night. It was hard leaving the log burner ..

Been watching the snow forecast all week and took some time off to enjoy Dalby riding from Thornton le Dale. Plenty of snow at the top and trails were loads of fun. Views driving home on the Yorkshire Wolds were stunning too.

day off yesterday so 40k round the valleys
sunny & frozen all day

Yesterday early morning, back to desk for 9am.

This morning. Snow is coming.

Clumber Park, Notts. -7 first thing and didn't get above -2

Sposed to be sunny in Sussex...., but not quite breaking through the mist

Proper Coffee getting into Xmas spirit already...

Brrrr! Chilly out round Mortimer Forest this am.

Little bit of snow and ice here and there. No mud! Very nice in the woods.

Bit chilly above sheff. Mostly ok but few lanes were too icy so hard work.
Pentlands yesterday, perfect conditions.

Garburn was exciting this morning!

The 10km ride to the Yat is about as cold as I can remember! Once we got there tho, mostly dry trails, frozen mud, lots of slippy leaves. And the view from this bridge over the Wye early doors is exactly why we get outdoors when the mercury is in the negative.
Quite a big day out - 55km/1150m of climbing. Post ride shower was the first time I was warm today!
Great pictures everyone.
I love seeing what everyone is up to despite still being unable to ride due to the manflu.
@kayak23
The more pictures I see of Harold the more I'm convinced he's not actually a dog but a small person dressed in a dog suit.
How many frozen pumpkins did he eat?
Valleys were very white and slippy. Some very icy climbs. But up top it’s just crisp, firm and lovely.

No mud anywhere. Makes a pleasant change to just hang up coat and trews ready for another ride, rather than all the rinsing, washing and drying.
2 weeks off the bike due to chest infection. First tentative pedal this morning. Bit nippy!

Bit chilly round Halton / Wendover woods today, but the riding was good.

Look mum no hands!
Crisp and lovely in Shropshire!

Denton moor and Beamsley Beacon at first light

Local nightie on the Trelleck Plain in mint conditions. Something special about mid winter night rides, 5pm twiddling thumbs and drinking tea, 530pm mini epic adventure

Still chilly today, but on my dog walk I checked the village pump track and they'd gritted it (didn't fancy the tarmac berms on slick tyres if they had ice on them!) so grabbed the little BFe and went for a play.
One day I might be brave enough to ride there in the daylight and allow all the local kids to see my ineptitude...
I got the "fear of missing out" when it started here on wednesday, ended up out at 3am with no lights doing a local ride with just the brightness of the snow to ride by. Came home all smug, had some soup, and went to bed expecting it all to have gone to slush by the morning.
So getting out today for another great snow ride at glentress was a treat. Complete with daylight!

more wet than icy in my area, though there was snow, wet slippery snow, at about 600m, which i didn’t take a picture of!
edit: for train enthusiasts, in the second picture there is a train of about 100 wagons rolling through the valley
Summer has arrived… with a vengeance. Friday morning took the new sled for a spin before work on 140mm forks. It was hot AF.
Saturday did a quick blast on the neighbouring sketchy (too steep to ride up) downhill fire trails, chased by my son. Then winched 3km back up the road past stopped cars in a torrential downpour. It was hot. And wet.
Sunday took the same son to a nearby bike park to show him how fast I could go… and it turned out I was just barely faster than him. It was hot.

Not quite as hot as Reeksy, with only 30 degrees, last weekend here in Dubai with 5 more days teaching before heading home for 2 days then a couple of days in Poland.
Rattly, rental Levo that definitely wasn’t full power.

My Sherpas away for a respray, so I pinched my sons zero 29, complete with mezcals front and rear which I wasn't sure about on snow. Needn't have worried, the tyres were fine and the Zero fairly flies along compared to the sherpa - want one!
Looks like the end of the sunny crisp weather for now unfortunately.
Well today wasn’t as crisp as yesterday.
https://flic.kr/p/2pjmQxZ
Schwalbe G-one all rounds have very limited grip on wet leaves and mud 😄
Sloppy and crunchy and slippy and fun whilst out with the Dog this morning. A group of 7 getting round the woods
Cold and damp lower down in the valley but found some lovely fresh snow on the moors. Snow rides are ace

Not sure the centurions would have seen the watch fires on days like this.

Up to 10cm snow this morning turning to slush this afternoon.
Bit different to yesterday - Snowy 27 miles Singlespeed, Clumber and Sherwood Forest, Notts

Yesterday:

Classic sun through the trees.
Dealing with the local Stickman - again.
Road the 'Cheese and Scone' trail. The Llandogo dockers would sit here and spot any boats coming into Llandogo that might offer a chance of some work loading of unloading cargo.
Fixing the 'Cheese and Scone' trail.
At last! Some frosty singletrack.
Thin little layer of snow this morning. Lovely and crisp at the start of the ride. Brown, wet and miserable by the end of it.
Some cracking pics on this thread.
Sighted a tiny bit of snow on the North Downs but largely just drizzle.... 58km loop. a very wierd Brexity pub (Farage Gin on display) and a blow out on the home straight... my repair on the rear ejected itself, new worm inserted.... Dynaplug kit on order...
It was Global Fat Bike Day.
We were told to wear "something festive"

Descent from Shooting Cabins towards Hayfield, Peak District.

Above Kinder Reservoir.
Short local loop in the frost and ice yesterday. Trails pretty much solid, all good conditions. A few sketchy bits of ice but most of it would crack or had enough rime ice covering it to give some decent grip.
A few from yesterday - ace ride!

Hungry pals - overly optimistic about the chances of getting a scrap of my fried egg & tattie scone roll.

First ride out in 8 weeks for me up Bosley cloud. Great riding conditions, frozen (mostly) trails, and quiet. Really cold though.
