what are the little end caps you clamp onto the end of cantilever straddle wires called?
and how do you clamp them on?
basically mine haven't got any on and the wires are fraying at the ends.

They just crimp on with pliers.
Should be able to get some from most good bike shops/suppliers.
£1 a pack in halfords.
I double crimp them with the shanks of some circlip pliers as they are nice and rounded. Squeeze them twice - once near the lip at the open end and then again half way to the closed tip without rotating it so they are parallel.
If you want to be really neat, crimp them with some electricians crimps. I bought a bag of 100 anodised ones off E-bay, they should last me a long time, especially in the colours that don't match my bikes...
Edit - thats 100 ferrules, not 100 pairs of crimps.
