I've previously spent a couple of days in the Lakes riding around Keswick and Whinlatter. Thinking of going somewhere else this time. Is that the best sort of area or are there other places worth exploring? Was thinking about the Ambleside/Grizedale area for example. Also, any campsite suggestions would be very welcome, thanks.

Hi mate, rode a bit of stuff around the lakes too, there is an awesome ride from Hartsop car park in patter dale, takes you up to high street and follows the lake.
The borrow dale bash is a nice route from Keswick.
I have heard of a new bock rout in grizedale, but I haven't ridden that area.
Speak to the guys at wheelbase in Staveley, there are some great routes in that area too. I have never camped in the lakes, so can't help there....sorry.

Conistion is a good place to base yourself for a weekend as you've got easy access to Grizedale, Walna Scar, Loughrigg and lots more nice riding. Good pubs too and the camp site is ok.

+1 for Coniston, and add the Tour of Coniston to that list - easily a weeks' worth of top riding.
And Ambleside is a good base, too - with Garburn and up towards Haweswater on tap!
