..what happened to him? Just trying to find the threads about it as I also want a headset protector for a 1.5" headset (like the Lizard skins and Endura ones for 1 1/8th headsets).
I can understand with a chainstay as you dont want to damage it with the chain but cant see a benefit to a headset wrap as it will just be dirt/grit magnet.

I had one fitted to my merlin and have one fitted to Kates specialized and zero dirt in the lower bearing after a couple of years. Unlike my current bike with no protection and same lack of crown race sealing and it was full of muck after a few rides. Granted the new one is 1.5W so sticks out more but that means the neoprene one will actually wrap around better. Also protects the lower cup from cable rub.
I cut up an old inner tube and put that over it.
yeah I have that on my chainstay. Just fancied tidying it up a bit and ditching the cable ties. Guess I could try an inner tube on my headset if I can stretch it enough.
