Seems to have conceded to Contador.
But what a stunning performance by Wiggo!!!
Title edited, please think before you post! - Mod
tick tock tick tock
(agreed, great showing by Wiggins)
There's a lot of racing left yet but Contador certainly took control today. Wiggins was very impressive. Good to see Sastre getting stronger as well - this race is far from over!
Pretty much admitted in the post-race interview that he was riding for 2nd now and in support of Contador.
Wiggins sat there in 3rd spot a mere 9" behind LA though - top performance. ๐
I wouldn't bet against him..A lot can happen in 5 days...
And yup, nice one Wiggo..
Awesome stage .. but despite putting "SPOILER" I think you may have ruined it for lots of people ... plum!
Good entertainment today (at last). Maybe Lance couldn't respond but it was best for the team anyway.
Contador looked different class.
Maybe Lance couldn't respond
Maybe with the loss of Levi he has to try using Contadors tactics now?...Maybe play weak/spent then in the last two days go mental with his stare? Lets wait... I really wouldnt write Lance off until his legs falls off.
LOL !
We really need a "spoiler" masterclass on this forum, don't we ?
WIGGINS !!!
๐ณ Sorry guys - guessed it was old news by now ๐ณ
Anyhoo! I guess if in doubt then it's 'spoiler' with everything.
Still it's hard to see how Lance can respond unless:
(a) Contador has an 'accident'
(b) Contador really has shot his bolt today
(apologies mods btw)
Even if contador did fall off and brake his stupid face or something, I think one of the others would attack and beat lance. He looked right on the edge today, I doubt if he couldve done any better if hed wanted to.
A couple of days ago in the rain I looked at Lance and saw an old man... ๐ฅ
Worse case scenario? I think he could retire with pride. We all agree on that. Imagine he started the Tour and was lowly placed throughout.

Who's we? Wouldn't 2nd be a fantastic come back anyway?
Wouldn't 2nd be a fantastic come back anyway
Yes it would. Be even better if Wiggins was there though
Lance came back completely in the knowledge that Contador was stronger and has brewed up an excellent media storm. I don't know how anyone ever thought Lance was a contender after his Giro earlier this year.
can't believe it all kicked off on the only day I couldn't get to Eurosport!
Lance was nowhere near the edge today, Id love to see something spectacular from him again but Contador sure looks good.

+10,000
Bit cruel on Cav though
Think that Lance was a bit stupid to try and come back in the first place.

Not sure his bank account would say that.....

Why not he's never been in this sort of position before!
Even if Contador falls off there is Wiggins and the Schleks there who will take it away from him. Not to mention Kloden who might finally grow some balls and drop his boss.
I'm incredibly impressed in Lance though. He's 37 and had half a season to knock himself into race shape and had the worst injury of his career since the Cancer. Now next year if he sticks at it I'll give him a chance to win it again. Not that I want him to mind.
Kramer - MemberThink that Lance was a bit stupid to try and come back in the first place.
Because, second, third or top ten in the Tour de France is regarded as a failure in the Kramer house?
Matt
Armstrong to return to le Tour next year?
please no more titles like this - just watched highlights but pretty much knew Armstrong would not respond ๐
I think Contador has it, he can time trial and climb, But Ventoux is one **** off big climb and if you have a bad day, the gaps will open up massively!

Not at all, it's an incredible achievement just to finish, but for a seven time winner, it's always going to be a comedown.
Seems to have conceded to Contador.
I think that was obvious from stage 1. As soon as the TTT put big gaps between Contador and Shleck/Evans/Sastre - game over.
Look at the poor old sprinters though. Cav 18 minutes back.
I reckon I could take him in the hills.
I don't know why anyone thought Armstrong was going to rip the legs off Contador after the way he got dropped last week. It has been pretty obvious since then that Armstrong will only win if Contador has an accident or makes a major tactical error.

No expert, but what he said ^

Cav would look like Contador in hills like that compared to anybody on here. Actually I'm probably being generous - only a very select few like njee would even manage to do that well.

Because a lot can change in a 3 week race. Even having seen todays stage, my opinion doesn't change that the climb to Andorra didn't tell us anything that definitively. If Armstrong had been dropped by anybody but his teammate in Andorra (like he was today) it would have been a different matter.
