Important?
I undid the little Allen bolt that holds the pads in and it destroyed it, will I die without it?

I killed mine too, never gave me any issues riding without it. Just check every so often to make sure the bolt hasn't worked itself lose/disappeared, but don't over tighten the bolt as they're dead easy to round out.

I rode for 2 Sunday's without the retaining pin before realising - you'll be fine

On my hope minis I replaced the bolt with a split pin.
