Lovely bit of trail that, perfect length for doing multiple laps of, great for nailing bike setup.

"Quite like the bike" is an understatement!

Is it a review? A hell of a lot of love.

New bike, so honeymoon period init! 8)

Seriously though.. it's a brand new bike which he's not ridden that much. Can he really be that head over heels instantly? Or it's a (vaguely disguised) advert.

Kesteven in instantly loving Santa Cruz shocker. Every Santa Cruz he rides he instantly adores. How he managed to give the alloy Bronson "only" four starts while adoring it I still don't know. Makes the MBR spesh love of a few years ago seem balanced. Really gets on my tits.

I'm no SC fanboy, and I don't know Guy Kesteven, but I can believe it might be a really good bike.

Geometry looks excellent anyway. And there aren't that many decent 29er HTs, especially reasonably light ones.

Guy lives in Harrogate, SC distributor is just outside Harrogate, they're all mates. I suspect his constant fawning over SC is just a little influenced, although I'm certain he wouldn't endorse any bike that wasn't good.

I don't know the guy but he's been reviewing bikes since I can remember. Can't see why he would be anything other than impartial. It's his job.

Have you really never gelled with a bike straight away?

Bike looks decent to me, stick some fast rolling 28er tyres on it with a straight seatpost and go XC racing, chuck some B+ on and go bikepacking, or plug a dropper in and do an uplift day. Does seem very versatile.

142mm dropouts for gears (as per other thread) would be good though.

Of course, and Guy has the experience to set up a new bike exactly as he wants it, without the trial and error approach most of us use, so loving the bike from the off even more likely for him, I suspect.

I do know him in passing at least and he's always seemed honest and throughly affable.

Further to Kelvin's point he also has the experience of thousands of bikes and i imagine that goes a very long way to knowing very quickly what works and what doesn't and what you do like.

I gelled pretty much instantly with my 5010, riding the exact same trail Guy is in that vid. Maybe it's the trail that brings the bike alive, rather than t'other way round?

Nah stainburn has made me hate a few bikes in the past so it's the trail. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I have, but I doubt I could ride every bike from a brand and instantly love it... 8)

Fair points all. Don't know how the video is edited either though. He's obviously had a fair few runs in the video.

Trails look good too

I like his enthusiasm.

I want to buy one now dam it, even though its a horrid colour and it has a really ugly seatude brace tacked on.

Yeah, he sold it very well. I think if they did an off the shelf Shimano 27.5 one with a dropper I'd be selling my old Soul 26.....
