in the peak district :
is it a loop ride, how long is it , do you have to push your bike uphill alot etc etc.... are there ....looks interesting and one of those 'must do projects' ๐
It's not too technical, but it is very very fast. You probably wont clear it going up, apparently Nick Craig is the only one to do so.
It gets you into country that feels 'out there' but isn't that far out there as its a busy part of the Peak. Going Clockwise you get eh best downhills and easiest(?) uphills, although its probably worth doing both ways round.
Either way there will be some pushing either side / way up Jacob's ladder, the rest of it is rideable if you're reasonably capable.
Its not a masssive route so about 4 hours if you start / end in Edale or Hayfield, there are extensions on either side.
Unless you're really keen to do it wait until the weather clears up a bit, its not going anywhere and it does get into exposed areas and its very wet and windy ATM. The only bit thats mucky is the top section of Rushup edge, however you can miss this out by following the road from around Mam Nick that heads towards Chapel-en-le-frith, or is it the other one?
Usually ridden as part of the edale loop - very busy at weekends - good fun but there are more routes that are just as rewarding if not more.
like the snow pic ! ๐ most prob wait till the weather clears somewhat... ๐
Its a goodun Elaine Anne, as part of the edalel lop it's a great descent to end a fun ride on. I like it cos the trails are a challenge regardless of bottle/ability- pick a line through the rocks or hoon down them as fast as you dare.
so whats all this about doin it all in one go ? there was a thread about this last year, you're only alound to put your feet down is it once or something rediculous lol.....are there any gates on route ?
It's brutal going up, but yes you do need someone to hold gates open if you want to try to clear it.
That's if you do it as a climb, only for the sadists really. There is a gate at the bottom and one about 2 thirds up
im no sadist but i luv climbing at my own speed...doubt id do it in one tho...it looks hellish steep.lol looks very rocky really to be able to climb it without wobbling off yer bike... ๐ any women claimed to do it yet then....
It's a hellish technical start, lots of loose rock ad gradient that doesn't allow you to use much momentum, if you can clean this bit it's not bad till the very last section which I've never ever cleaned, even when I used to be a bit of a whippet.
