Can I use the fittings off my Hayes hoses and put them on Goodridge hoses. Would the hose pressure hold up OK?

as far as I can remember, Hayes hose is a smaller OD that goodridge & standard Hayes Hoses have a crimped fitting, which isn't removable to fit onto a new hose. Better to get the right fitting kit if you want the Goodridge hose.

I'm buying new brakes but the front hose length on all the brakes I have looked at are too short! A bit of a hassle and more expensive as well.

If you buy 6mm (older) Goodridge hose, the fixing nut will fit over the sleeve(plastic coating on hose) but you'll have to cut the plastic away to fit the new style Hayes olive and barb all in one connector.
If you get the new 5mm hose, it'll be a tight squeeze to get the olive and barb conn into place, but it'll fit eventually.

The whole point of buying a Goodridge upgrade kit though, is that the connectors are far superior to the originals from any brake manufacturer.
This is what Goodridge built their reputation in the motorsport world on, and why they guarantee their kits FOREVER not "lifetime" so if your kids break them, they'll get free replacements, and so will their kids.
So spend £30 an end now, and never have to worry about your brakes until their annual bleed.
Or carry on thinking What If?
