Bardet goes - this is putting Thomas into trouble with his position on GC but Pogacar doesn't really have to worry too much about it.

Suddenly, this whole Tour has been blown wide open, the GC will massively shift. Bardet and Quintana doing amazing rides, G is consolidating, Pogacar falling away... In fact he's looking pretty wrecked all of a sudden!

He's lost a good chunk of his team already so it'd be no surprise.

Bardet in 2nd place on GC!
Couple more seconds for G and he'd have leapfrogged Pogacar as well.

Tomorrow is Bastille Day and Alpe d'Huez!

G had his famous win on Alpe d'Huez in 2018 so could do it again.

Did you see the stage profile? I amazed how anyone can attack on the last climb after that lot. Hopefully Pog is just paying for his youthful enthusiasm/wasted efforts in the first week and isn't Covidy. That would be a mighty shame. Great ride by JV and Ineos did what they could - playing the long game. Given Yates history, I think he's looking to peak in the 3rd week.

Back over the Galibier first thing tomorrow, then finishing up the Alpe. Wow.

Game on!

Col Du Granon, Yellow Jersey breaker!

Two appearances in the TDF and both times the Yellow Jersey wearer has lost it.

Let's get it back in again for next year.

Well I was at the Col du Granon in 1986 near the bottom of the climb as I was a bit late getting there so missed the sight of LeMond beating Hinault but a nice chilled afternoon on the sofa I've seen Pogacar being beaten by Vingegaard.

Being retired is great 😀

Pesky work getting in the way. I'll need to catch the hilights tonight. Bardet ascends as MvdP abandons, my dream team has had some highs and lows.... mostly lows.

Crikey, didn’t see that happening

3 stages ago I said he was untouchable, and either best rider ive ever seen or on some special cocktail of pharmaceuticals

He’s clearly neither

Although I will also be unsurprised if he tests positive for Covid overnight. Hopefully not though, hopefully he’s just human and the tour will be far closer than I expected

Didn’t see that coming, what a stage! Will watch the highlights in a bit to digest it all. Pog could / should learn from this but probably (possibly?!) too late for this tour. It may also make him more popular, public loves a champion who isn’t perfect and has to fight, plus he has a reputation amongst the peloton for being a decent human being

I've been watching the Tour for many a year and that was one of the best stages I've seen. It had everything. Can't wait for tomorrow.

A touch of class from Pogacar at the end too.

Also a touch of class from WvA giving a fan his green jersey after borrowing his pump on the way back to the hotel.

I accidentally (ahem) arranged to work from home today and tomorrow. It was great putting Teams meetings on mute today to watch that, I hope I don’t get asked any awkward work related questions tomorrow too as I doubt I’ll be paying any attention. Superb day of racing!

Well bloody hell i enjoyed that. Watched live till they topped Galibier then turned on highlights later on. Then turned them off straight away and just watched the full race coverage.

Brilliant. I expected pog to crack sooner, but he seems like a genuinely great guy, straight over to congratulate Jonas on the win. Can hardly wait for tomorrow!

Maybe this is just me but ITV4 has become unwatchable since they moved to this Hub thing. Trying to watch on my computer it just keeps buffering or resetting to the start. It's impossible to wind forward or back and the adverts are irritating beyond belief and impossible to skip past. Got to be one of the worst websites I've ever encountered.

I used to enjoy the ITV4 highlights programme (that music still means summer to me) but have given up on it. My Eurosport subscription is far better value.

Agreed, I hate catch-up on the ITV hub - it's fine watching live (or wtatch from start) but if I want to fast-forward through ads then I record on the PVR

My laptop was iffy with ITV4 so I did a few reboots and updates, sung Soft Kitty to it, seemed to clear it. Windows. I can't speak for whatever iffy OS you are running.

But anyway that really was some stage, I gave up pretending to work once Rog and Vingers started tag teaming Pog.

Tadej's post race interview also showed character, he seemed Ok and said maybe he will take 3 mins back another day.

See i wouldn't put it past him to try that today.

The dynamics of the pack have changed, he's attacking now, not defending and he attacks better than he defends.

Yup. My wife's tablet is abysmal for anything that is not on the Sky sports app. Virgin go and ITV HUB are awful especially for sports. My phone is much better

The sheer number of ads is making it unwatchable!

What are the alternatives?

Might be worth signing up for the ITV Hub+ 7 day trial to get it ad-free?

In fact I'm going to do just that for today's stage. If it works then possibly worth the £3.99 to cover the following week.

What are the alternatives?

GCN racepass is £40 per year, full uninterupted coverage (nclcuding full race catch up) of a large percentage of the world tour rad race season incluing all grand tours and most classics, stage races and one day races. Excellent and varied presentation and commentary team

but no Gary Imlach, Ned Boulting or David Millar - which you may or may not regard as a bonus

Ned Boulting or David Millar

Ned is quirky & I love his enthusiasm. David has been there got, done it all (including the drugs) & got the t-shirt. He knows how much it hurts & so I think his opinions are on the money. But each to their own...

Yes the ITV commentary team are much better - I also enjoy their podcast Never Strays Far/Car/Farfalle etc they do the next day just 45 mins or so of nonsense and chat.

What are the alternatives?

I susbscribed to Eurosport/GCN via Discovery+. £40 quid for the year got me all the classics, all three grand tours and a lot more in between. And I never have to see another zwift, wiggle or halfords advert, which is worth the money on its own. Also Orla Chennaoui vs Gary Imlach, it's no contest really 😄.

I've settled on GCN for race, really like Blythe, McEwan and Lloyd combo, although i can do without Carlton Kirby and his blithering, then listen to The Cycling Podcast, Never Strays Far and Cycling Tips podcasts, seems to have me covered

Not sure. A few years ago I'd definitely have agreed but Eurosport have really upped their game recently, particularly the addition of Robbie McEwan to the team.

Dan Lloyd and Adam Blythe are good fun too, and Orla is a great host (would love to see Gary Imlach trying to get away with some of her outfits!!).

Sean Kelly though I think is past his best by date.
