Hi all,

Heading up to uni as a first year on Saturday, and although I'm keeping my mtb and roadie in my room I want to get them insured.
I don't have the faintest idea where to start - What policy? What company? How to go about it?
My mtb is worth around £2000 on the second hand market (I maybe being a little optimistic) and my roadie more like £300.
Any advice would be much appreciated!

A couple of my friends have had their bikes stolen, and they've had their payout based on the RRP of the bike that's stolen. Is that dishonesty on their part for not saying it was used, or is that how it works?

Many thanks for any help!

Well I'll start with M&S cos I've just renewed with them.
Couldnt get anywhere near their price/cover elsewhere.

Is that under your home insurance?
I can't do that as I don't have a home 🙄

Don't take offence but have you lived with your parents prior to Uni? Parents policy can often cover contents for dependents while at Uni.

Don't take offence
How could I? 😯

In answer to your question, yeah I have, I'll talk to them about it. That could save me a lot of money, I really can't afford to shed out £300 on insurance at the moment.

Many thanks
