The Nukeproof Mega AM, thoughts, experiences, reliability etc is it good basically? Tad under £2900 on CRC with BC membership.

Feel as though my 2011 Camber (120, no dropper, 26 wheels) is holding me back now.

Other options for £3k or less? Considered a strive, commencal, Orbea but none have ticked all the boxes as yet...

It makes the Dirt-100 this year.

Great 160mm travel bike, more toward the heavier and burlier end of the spectrum...i believe the front end is still warrantied for a 180mm fork although i could be wrong on that, certainly earlier ones were anyway.

You'll struggle to get it under 30lbs in weight if that bothers you but if it doesnt then crack on, the only reason i didnt buy one when looking for a full suss this year was the SRAM running gear and brakes....that said i'm eyeing up a frame/shock package that has been reduced to £750 at the moment so my Trance might be getting the heave-ho shortly.

Haven't ridden one, but I do see quite a few of of the 2015 ones at the the Forest of Dean.
The green looks surprisingly good in person, and those frames look like they would take some real abuse.

I had the 26in version. Built to 32lbs with BOS forks, Zee drivetrain, Mavic SX wheels, etc. Definitely at the burlier end of the trail spectrum, but still rode mine all over the FOD and it was fine for big days out. Fun bike to ride and way more capable than me on the big, scary stuff.

Took it twice to BPW and once to the alps. Those places definitely felt like it was in its element. The frames are pretty agricultural but strong and not stupidly heavy. Cable routing used to be rubbish, might be better on the newer models.

I replaced it with a Bird Aeris which is 2lbs lighter and - for me - a better all round bike. You'd get a nicely spec'd aeris for your budget. Might be worth considering?

Had a Mega AM 2013 for 18 months, built up from frame myself. A little heavy but a great all round bike. Will handle almost anything in the hands of a skilled rider (not me). Well built and very solid feeling, get one.

They're great - rode mine all last summer for guiding in the Alps and I really rate it.

Not the lightest, for sure, but I think they climb quite well.

Reliability-wise, the only issue I had was with the freehub on the NukeProof wheels. Would probably last a lot longer for most people, but obviously I'm riding hard every day and I'm quite a big bloke and doing a lot of hard accelerations/steep mini-climbs. Otherwise, everything was good.

Even the SRAM running gear was fine - I smacked the rear-mech on a rock early-on and it was never quite right, so replaced it pretty soon with a new X9 one and that's been spot-on. I did eventually switch to a single ring up-front, but that's just personal preference.

For UK riding, I might be inclined to go with the TR, but for out here, the AM is perfect.

(EDIT: I am actually selling mine as well, got a new one already!).

I've got a 2014 Am. I absolutly love it, but the paint is very thin. I ave mine covered in helitape.
I had to drop the chainring from a 36 to a 32 and add a 40t t-rex. Other than that it is std and has been used hard since i got it. The bottom braket on mine hasn't been the best though. Im on my 2nd one now.

Yeah, the SRAM BB's are gash, but I figure that's not NukeProof's fault!

No problems with the paint on mine, still looking good after a hard season of guiding.

Lester, how was the mattocs on the tr? Are they pros and at 160?
I have the 26 tr and was looking at options to replace 150mm revs RL.
Sorry for the hijack
