Just took my cassette of my bike for the first time in a year. When i took it off i noticed that the cassette has caused some damage to the cassettte body there are little indentations on each of the splines. Is this something i should worry about my new cassette still slid on after id removed a few burrs with a small file. for reference its a pro 2 with a sram pg950 cassette
Common problem with Pro2's, its because the freehub body is alloyminium rather than ti (on the bulb) or steel (on the xc)
Dont worry about it, should be fine. You can buy replacemtn steel ones though
shouldn't use a cassette without an alloy carrier
ok well my new cassette is a pg990 which is alu. one more quick question what kind of grease should i use on the pawls insid the hub cheers
Ideally, you should use an EP (extreme pressure) grease. Hope use Mobil 222,but you may find it difficult to get in small quantities. I use Castrol Spheerol EP2 myself (from Buck and Hickman), but most people manage with ordinary grease from their bike shop.
