How does the new Singular Swift compare to the gen 1 iteration? I have one of the latter, but it is beginning to show its' age and I am wondering about the new version as a replacement. Has anyone ridden both and how do they compare?

Otherwise, I could just get the old one resprayed etc.

I've got a Mk I Swift (the blue one) and bought the frame second-hand precisely because I wanted a blue one over the new off-white. I haven't ridden the new one but can't imagine it being significantly better other than more tyre clearance if you want to run 29+.

My favourite bike of all time and if it ever breaks I'll order a new one the next day. I run it rigid SS and I was out on it tonight funnily enough.

My favourite bike of all time

I know what you mean. I have a Highball sitting in the shed that never gets used. The Swift is the 'go to' (mountain) bike. Mine started off rigid and single speed some 10,000 odd miles ago. It has since grown some gears but that's it.

Looks like a respray job then. But only when the winter is over!

Personally I like all my kit to have the "battered and bruised" look because I don't have to worry about it then. One of the reasons for buying second-hand as well.

I have a friend who has a six year old Trek Top Fuel that looks like it just came out of the showroom! And before you ask he has ridden it a lot all the year round in all conditions. He is very prissy about his gear though and it all looks immaculate.

What colour are you going for the respray and where are you getting it done?

gil at retrodecals / the cycleshed has the files for the decals. You can choose your own colour combo if you fancy.

You could also get replacement decals from Sam@Singular.

I'm pretty sure he gets them from Gil!

Not sure what colour yet. I like the blue, but something else might be nice. Argos in Bristol did a respray for me once (SC Superlight) and I was terribly disappointed. Need to do some research.

Thanks for the steer on the decals.

Going on the Singular website I notice all the pictures for the Swift are now shown in the blue. Have they gone back to the original colour?

I never had the MK1 always wanted one but never quite got round to purchasing one, I will however in about 30 minutes time be picking up the Mk2 from the shop which they've built up for me today and I can't wait - it looks beautiful.

This is no help to your original post but I'm very excited and just had to post ๐Ÿ™‚

I'm sure whichever way you decide you'll end up happy!
