Recently got back into cycling.

Was looking at selling my old, barely used, very good condition 2003 Enduro as never really took to full sussers.

The spec roughly as per link (different tyres and pedals only real change)

http://www.bikepedia.com/quickbike/BikeSpecs.aspx?year=2003&brand=Specialized&model=Enduro

Rather than sell the Enduro for the going rate of a few buttons on ebay,I am thinking about buying an Inbred frame and swapping the majority of parts over where compatible. Is this worthwhile doing or should I just sell Enduro on and put the pittance of money towards an Inbred with shiny new bits? How outdated are the components on 2003 Enduro now? -I don't want bigger wheels before anyone suggests it - 26" is fine for me.

As I am pretty mechanically inept, how much approximately would a bike shop charge to swap all the parts around ?

I did the same with my 04 Enduro, all the parts went to a 456 and very pleased with it I was to.

The stuff left over (frame etc) was sold and paid for a modest build for the wife.

As for cost I've not a clue. Not been much help, sorry.

am I right in thinking that most parts will be compatable - so only expense I will probably be looking at parts wise is new cables?

Headset and seatpost. You'll need some headset spacers for the fork steerer as the on one has a shorter head tube than the enduro, and you'll probably need a new front mech, or at least spacers for your existing one for the skinnier seat tube.

You'll have fun building it up, it's a good idea.

The seatpost and seatclamp are not compatible, other than that, everything else should fit. As said above you'll need a 34.9 to 28.6 shim for your front mech, some more headset spacers and new cables. The inbred has full length outers so you'll need 3m of outer plus cables, outer caps and end crimps.
