Both 10 speed.
Not changing to get wider range, just need new cassette!
The 11-28 10spd is cheaper than my current 12-30.... and if my maths is correct it actually gives a slightly wider range too? I just don't want *less" range is all. 😃
Can't think of any negatives to the swap??
Higher lowest gear
Are you changing your chainrings too?
I went the other way on my road bike from 11-28 to 12-30 (and bought smaller chainrings) all to try and give me an easier set of gears for climbing, I seldom require an 11t sprocket TBH...
But yes the overall range will marginally more (1 tooth "wider") but you will essentially be losing your lowest gear for climbing, that might not bother you of course.
Yes, I don't think I was thinking clearly about this guys. The range might be a little wider but it will move the range slightly as pointed out.
I need to see how much I use the 30T at the back on Zwift as I'm genuinely not sure! Lol
Thanks again lads. 👍
I'm just waiting for Wiggle to deliver an 11-28 10 speed cassette so i can make the same change.
12-30 cassette on my 2013 Giant Defy is pretty shagged, however i'd somehow managed to convince myself it was an 11-32 cassette which is what i ordered last week.
I can't get the 11-32 to work with my short cage rear mech so it'll be getting swapped out for an 11-28 this week.
The only 12-30 10 speed cassette i could find was an Ultegra one, which was £44. The 11-28 was £18.
there are 12-30t Tiagra (CS-4600) about for around £25ish...
Didn't see this last reply when I posted this.
Cookeaa, should coud you tell me where you saw these cassettes for around that price, they seem to be out of stock anywhere?
