My Rebas have the crown race off my FSA cartridge bearing headset on.
My Revs have the crown race off my RaceFace Deus cartridge bearing heaset on.
I have to use the Revs on my Inbred, that has the remains of the FSA headset in it (the Rebas are "at the menders" but the less said about that, the better...)
Therefore - I have the RF crown race on the forks, and the rest of headset's FSA - it feels ok, but if you lift the front of the bike up and turn the front end from side-to-side at the extremities, there's an obvious stop and tightening, before you turn it back again - if that makes any sense? It just doesn't seem super smooth. Am I going to knacker everything by mixing the two headsets up?
I just *need* to ride the Inbred tomorrow and can't chop the crown races around as the Rebas seem to have disappeared off the face of the earth at my LBS. Any thoughts / advice please? Many thanks.
is anyone able to help please? Don't want to ride it in the morning and wreck the thing... thanks in advance.

I think you have answered your own question, if the headset is not running smooth with the other crown race I'd guess your experiment is telling you don't do it.
What Ive found with headsets is that each manufacturer usually has a specific crown race that interlinks or interfaces with there own bearings in the cups, which make interchanging them not practical. you could end up damaging your bearings.
Thanks Craig - you're absolutely right. I went out on the bike 1st thing this morning, and it was awful. Down right dangerous to be honest...! I shot up to the LBS who had the Rebas there and they swapped the crown race over, and *amazingly* it's working like a dream.
Lesson learned.
