anyone swapped out a shock for a smaller one in terms of eye to eye and stroke?
got a 230 x 71 on right now as stock but also have a spare one kicking around in 216 x 63 thats in better working order?
anyone?
think you'll need to be sure that the frame can stand a bit more wheel movement without anything fouling (inc tyre) as the compressed length of the "new" shock is a bit shorter than the current one
other than that, I suppose it'll start off lower at the back, so slacker seat & head angles and lower bb
Your i2i is 14mm shorter, but the stroke only 8mm shorter
It will sit as if its 14mm further into the stroke with no rider, but will bottom out a further 6mm into the stroke. As above I'd make sure that doesn't mean (it probably will though) your tyre (or any of the frame componentry) don't hit the frame when you bottom out the shock
I suspect being a further 14mm into the stroke with no weight on will mean the BB, head/seat angles, effective top tube, chainstay length etc will drop loads too
What frame is it?
I have done this previously with success but as the last two said you will need an extra 6mm of clearance.
