bonty big earl wets
good for all but fast steep grassy off cambers.
hardtail - bonty mud 2.0
full sus - conti verticals 2.3 (maxxis crossmark in summer)
i use those tubes from halfords with slime in - seem ok
Bonty Jones ACX year-round. I don't ride enough to make it worth switching from season to season, and they offer the best compromise for the year's conditions
Giant XTC hardtail
F&R Panaracer Fire XC Pro 2.1, all year round
Trail centres, Peak bridleways, Cannock etc.
Good all rounders and reasonably light/durable, can't be bothered to mess around trying different ones or changing for the weather/season.
Bike: Kona SS
Front tyre: 1.95 trailraker
Rear tyre: 1.95 trailraker
Type of riding: Pootling in slop woods
Your thoughts on said combo: Pinbally on rock, shite on roots, unsurpassed in hub depth slop to either side of rocks n roots
Bike: Turner 5-spot
Front tyre: 2.35 60a Highroller
Rear tyre: 2.35 60a Highroller
Type of riding: Everything
Your thoughts on said combo: Just about deals with the slop, astoundingly amazing everywhere else. Draggy but still pondering a 42a for the front for gravity assisted funz.
Bike: Voodoo XC race bike
Front tyre: 1.95 exiwolfs tubeless or 2.1 Kenda Bluegroove supertacky
Rear tyre: 1.95 exiwolfs tubeless
Type of riding: XC/24hr racing
Your thoughts on said combo: Amazingly capable for a low profile, thin XC tyre. Used in slop to good effect until course dries out enough to engage afterburners. Kenda good for more trail giggles orientated rides, bigger volume, carves turns better, can honk on the brakes harder. Stupid thin sidewalls necessitates running it harder than I'd like to. Can roll over if you corner it too hard too. I only use it to wear it out, then I'll get a 70a HR for it.
Bike: Cannondale road race bike
Front tyre: Schwalbe Stelvio lights 23c
Rear tyre: Schwalbe Stelvio lights 23c
Type of riding: Road race and audax
Your thoughts on said combo: A bit thin and puncture prone for audax, but needs must. Awesome for road race and on the etape in July. Carves turns like a hot knife through butter, the harder you corner, the more grip they seem to give.
Bike: Commuter hack bike
Front tyre: Maxxis wormdrive 32c
Rear tyre: Conti city contact 32c non black chilli
Type of riding: Commuting!
Your thoughts on said combo: Wormdrives dependable, city contact frighteningly bad, moved from front becuase I kept loosing the front end in the damp. Tretcherous in properly wet conditions.
Bike: Commuter hack bike in CX guise
Front tyre: Conti Twister 32c or Conti Speed King 35cs
Rear tyre: Conti Twister 32c or Conti Speed King 35cs
Type of riding: CX
Your thoughts on said combo: Twisters are OK in a straight line, nervous otherwise, but dependable. Spped Kings utterly utterly useless. Grip is OK, but they're so slack they blow off the rims and destroy their own beads all THE DAMN time, v soft so wear out pronto (good riddance!)
Bike: Commuter SS hack bike
Front tyre: Vittoria rubino 25c
Rear tyre: Vittoria rubino 23c
Type of riding: Commuting!
Your thoughts on said combo: Reliable, not ace in corners, but dependable. Seem OK in puncture stakes, wear is good.
HTH
Bike: Yeti 575
Front tyre: 2.35 High Roller 60a
Rear tyre: 2.35 High Roller 60a
Type of riding: Various - Rocks, mud, roots
Your thoughts on said combo: Great Combo
Bike: Rock Lobster 853
Front tyre: 2.1 Nobby Nic
Rear tyre: 2.1 Panaracer XC Fire Pro
Type of riding: Various - Rocks, mud, roots
Your thoughts on said combo: Great Combo
conti speed kings... doing alright as well, though if I get chance I will be popping the swampthings on.. both makes in a 2.1
Bike: Giant XTC Composite 2006
Front tyre: Panaracer Fire XC Pro Kevlar 2.1 (RED)
Rear tyre: Panaracer Fire XC Pro Kevlar 2.1 (RED)
Type of riding: Scottish Trail Centres & natural XC
Your thoughts on said combo: I dont mind the Fire XCs, but I have just ordered some Nobby Nic 2.1's to go with my new light wheels. Wish me luck!!!!
High Roller 2.35 front
Advantage 2.10 rear.
Cos they're all Halfords have on a sunday night and i've fannied about.

2xschwalbe stelvios 700x23 (tubed)
2xbonty big earl wet 2.35 (tubeless)
1xmaxxis minion dhf 2.35 (ghetto)
1xmaxxis advantage 2.1 (tubed)
Intense Edge 2.35 - widest tyres I've ever run but they haven't dumped me in the mud yet . . . well, OK so there've been a few front wheel washout incidents but that's been due to slack angles and rider error ๐ .
Giant XTC 4 2009:

5" FS
Maxxis High Roller 2.35" (a big 2.1") 60a folding
I wanted to keep some volume. The deep paddles make up for being too fat to cut through slop for the mostpart. Climbing traction on the ramps is fine the vast majority of the time too
I'm happy enough with them for the peak, not great on sloppy grassy stuff, but fine in the rocks (I can't seem to tell whats not good though?)
Seemed alright at Whinlatter/Lakes, though I think I might prefer Nevegals when theres not as much slop to deal with
XC HT
Bontrager Mud X 2.0" (55/62a)(folding)
The 'checked' pattern on the knobbles has just worn away, so the tread height is now more like a new ACX. Not as great as they were new/unworn but still pretty good. Suprisingly quick for a mud tyre, probably due to not running low pressures. Narrow enough to cut through slop, feel (to me) to be small but otherwise I get on with them
Can't really fault them on XC stuff, (eg Sherwood Pines)
play bike (small HT)
Maxxis Crossmark 2.1" (a decent 2.1") 70a
Block up in slop really very quickly, but they're meant to be my summer tyre for my XC Hardtail. Seem quick and grippy enough to have a muck about on BMX tracks and stuff
Big Earl 2.3 wets on my Demo, time for the Tioga Muds methinks.
Bonty Mud x 1.8's on the Blur LT.
456 Summer Season
Very Muddy.
F Maxxis Wetscream 2.5
R Michelin Downhill mud-perrished(Now replaced with Maxxis Wetscream)
General
F Maxxis Advantage 2.4
R Maxxis Advantage 2.4
Wetscreams rule in the mega gloop but are a nightmare everywhere else.
Advantage`s are my fave do-it-all tyre of the moment.
