Phenomenal grip in mud, very noisy on tarmac. You need at least an 85mm rim preferably 100mm..Can,t see how you are going to fit one where a ground control used to live

The Fat Boy rims are 85, and by all accounts Bud fits the fork

The GC's are pretty noisy on tarmac

Rolls much better than the smaller Nate on the front. Also much better side to side grip than paddle shaped tyres such as Nate in slimy conditions. Run mine on an 80mm rim and it gives nice rounded profile.

Registering interest on people's thoughts on a Bud up front.

I spoke with (Sideways) Tim a couple of months back about the possibility of running a Bud on a Marge Lite.

He said his experiences were pretty good with the caveats being wider rims get the most from the girth 😉

I tend to run my Nates pretty firm (15psi plus) so would look to do the same with a Bud.

Are they "better" than a Nate? For use upfront?

If you have room for a Bud it rolls better than a Nate, grips better than a Nate and absorbs rocky trails better than a Nate.
Edit mines on a Rolling D rim.

From most accounts on mtbr Bud's roll better than GC's too

Win win?

I'm tempted but at £90 a tyre...and if you've got a 5incher in the front it'd be odd to have a 4incher in the back so then I'd have to buy another one 🙄

Yeah, 90 quid's definitely a stumbling block

Plus I doubt it will be a world apart from what I have now

I tend to use a bigger front tyre on all my bikes.

Yeah but the difference between 5" and 4" is very substantial?

I've run one on a 70mm rim - it's fantastic, probably the best tyre there is for grip, rolls really well too, better than a Nate.

More than enough to splay 90 on one 🙂

Or not - my fatty is on the floor
