I was in chelmer cycles at the weekend and the new soloist 853 caught my eye. That is one nice looking frame.
I currently ride a 1x1 which i have to say i think is a really nice ride, but the appearance of the braze ons do bug me.
Do you think its worth splashing out nearly £500 on a new ss frame, will i feel the difference. I am a bit concerned about possible problems with the eccentric bb through the winter months too. The track end system of the 1x1 does work faultlessly.
Would you swap or not?
Thanks
It'll be a fair chunk lighter than the Surly.
mmm, that's one plus so far!
no
Cut the braze on's off.
why not firestarter?
Kuco, only had it powder coated 3 months ago.
Cutting them off and re-powder coating is still far cheaper than £500.
you like it, it works and surlys are great that and you will also have 500 notes in your pocket still 😉
still a standard cromo frame though.
Your probably right firestarter, i reckon i'm just looking for an excuse to get a new shiny red bike
Ooh - they do Soloists in 853?!
I've just bought the "old" CroMo Soloist, upgrading from an Inbred. Really like it. Eccentric bottom bracket is fine - hasn't caused me any problems and is easy enough to set up (did forget to tighten it once but I blame my toddler for interrupting me mid-task). For some bizarre reason it rolls really fast - faster than my Inbred despite all the kit being identical. Please don't ask me why.
