I would just buy any old stem, I mean how much can a stem weigh? Save you money to invest where it could make a difference.

I’ve got a couple of nice ones in my spares, Bonty Line Pro (might be 35mm clamp though) and a FSA Gravity Light.
Pro Tharsis ones are really light, got a 40mm on of those, sweet little thang 😊

Yep. The Cube badged ones often sell for peanuts (some of the newer Cube stuff is actually Newmen - another brand worth looking at).

I rate Deda, they're not expensive either.

And ref the lightening elsewhere rather than the stem... I'm trying to get a weight weenie build and pretty much crank, cassette and stem are the only bits left to "upgrade"...

Next thing may be aluminium bolts and spendy Ti where Al not advisable,

eg. Al bearing preload bolt on stem will save you +/- 10g 🙂

I have a Syntace F109 coming up for sale soon,75mm 31.8 bar diameter and +/-7 degree.
Great lightweight stem taking my hardtail to bits and moving over to Cotic Flaremax which needs a 35mm stem!
Probably looking for around £55 posted if any good?

The S-Works SL stem on my Chisel was only a fraction of the weight that replaced the lump of steel that was on it.

@Turnerfan1 ah, thanks.. but despite everyone's top suggestions in here it seems the truly lightweight answer is an integrated carbon stem and bar... yes they're very expensive, but hard to beat with a traditional setup, plus the Bontrager RSL jobbie has a perfect combo for my needs

No worries Rob.
Depending what you are looking at you may find a serperate bar and stem to be lighter.
I used the Syntace stem, say 110 gram and a Mt Zoom bar approximately 120 gram.
Some of the integrated bar/stems were 280 grams plus even though they do look cleaner and more bling!
