Hopefully someone here can answer this nice and quickly 🙂

I've just replaced my SS switch evo freehub. New one is an Ultra, but website says it fits (it looks the same). When I assemble the hub and tighten the end caps, anything more than finger tight, the freehub goes stiff to turn. When I leave it slightly loose and put wheel in frame and tighten 12x142mm axle, the freehub is too stiff and you cant pedal backwards.
The rubber seal is in the main hub body seated fine. The spacer is at the end of the freehub and sat in flush. Bearings in the main hub are only 6months old and seem fine. The only thing that I thought was a little odd was the tightness of the spacer inside the freehub. The old one is understandable worn, but slips in very easily to just below flush. The new one is very tight and I have to knock the spacer in to get it flush. But as I say, the freehub turns fine when not done up tight.

Any ideas?
TIA

You need a narrower spacer, link is in the description here, I had to do this as well

Confirm with Superstar but 99.4% sure this is the issue

No probs, bit annoying as I bought two new freehubs so had to get two of these other spacers but of course they leave the new bigger ones in the pack, bit of a waste. Shame you can't order the new freehub with the above spacer included.

Well Superstar replied and I am very happy with the result. They said did I use the correct spacer, to which I replied I had already ordered a new one from other advise.
Without me asking, they have very kindly refunded me the cost of the spacer. Apparently it should have come with one, but I didnt ask for a refund. First class CS 🙂

I've had nothing but good service from them - very quick replies to emails, etc.
Even went as far as to suggest cheaper wheels last year after calling them for advice due to me not being a fat f*&%$£

Just digging this up as I've got exactly the same problem.

I bought a switch ultra freehub a while back ready to replace the one on my switch evo hub. After fitting it and finding it was tight i realised i needed to buy the narrower spacer, that turned up today but after swapping it with the one that was in there it's still exactly the same 😕

I haven't measured them yet but by eye the one that was meant to be narrower looks exactly the same as as the one that came with the new switch ultra freehub and the one which came out the older switch evo freehub.

Is it just a case of them sending out the wrong one or is there anything else it could be?

Sorry, I hadnt updated this with what actually fixed the problem.
The new spacer is a little bit smaller, only marginally, but you can feel more play when fitted in the freehub. This was only part of the issue though. My freehub was still stiff. I noticed that it was only stiff when tightening the axle, so thought it must be the bearing not seated correctly on the outer side of freehub (the outer most bearing, closest to the axle nut). I got a suitable socket, put the freehub in a vice (with cloth around it) and gave it a few taps. That was it, all good after that.

Hope its the same for you Mark.

Thanks, I'll give that a try first.

Was racking my brain last night and I just couldn't see how it was the spacer causing the problem. One of my other wheelsets has a switch ultra hub so I can always pull that apart and try the freehub off that if I need to.
