I've just bought a Fox sls spring for my dh bike. shock on the bike is RC 9.5x3". the spring was sold as the same. Only thing is the new spring is an inch shorter than the one on the frame? Are they made this way? Bit of a long shot but if anyone knows...

That's the point of them isn't it? Same spec, less material, less weight
Assuming you can still get preload on it I wouldn't think you'd have a problem

i kind of half thought as much... but then thought why dont they just do that to normal steel springs, but then realised the smaller gap in between coils means they need more coils in order to take up the compression. So yes it does make sense that it is shorter... I just wanted to check first.
