Looking for a new summer base layer as the old one never smells fresh no matter how many times I wash it.

Just returned this....

https://www.morvelo.com/kuler-red-ss-baselayer.html

Really nice top but didn't thik it would stand up to any abuse as it was so thin. First fall or snag on a bush and it would have ripped for sure.

Anyone recommend me a decent base layer that can stand up to some abuse?

I have a Craft string vest. Was going cheap on Wiggle I think.

I've not yet snagged it in the brambles, despite my right forearm now having more holes in it than the base layer.

The child minder has stopped commenting on the visible blood and/or bandages when I pick up LittleMissMC after a Thursday bike commute ๐Ÿ˜•

It is slightly alarming the amount that look like string vests on CRC, wiggle etc!

Is this what the cool kids r wearing these days...

I've read that a solution to this is to add some white vinegar to the wash. Apparently the bacteria that produce the smells are not removed from the fabric or killed by ordinary washing liquids.

I've stopped wearing 'summer' vests I just dont think they work in terms of cooling, moisture management etc.

Its another layer you're going to be hotter whatever its made from.

One of my favourite pieces of kit is my Ground Effect Submerino base layer,I use them all year round. They're long sleeved but I'm sure they do something short sleeved.
Have a look here; https://www.groundeffect.co.nz/

Patagonia capilene is great, but I only bother with a base layer if it's actually cold out.

What do you summer baselayer wearers think they do for you?

In Summer I don't think you can beat a cotton t-shirt. I don't want the sweat wicked away, I want it doing its job- using heat to evaporate.
