Who's up for a spin round the Forest of Dean on Sunday 7th Nov then? Singlespeeds only as gears will just get in the way 🙂
I will give out time and place nearer the time.

I might come along, still haven't converted my mtb to SS though so it'll be one of my first off-road SS rides and I'll probably die halfway round. I also don't have a beard, is there any hope for me?

Beards Optional
and yes Tom if you're not dead half way round I've made it too easy.

Just a thought for Rich and anyone else who fancies it there is a bunk house attached to the Fountain Inn Pub at Parkend, get yourselves in there for the night, the start is only a couple of flat miles from there.

Well I've gone and done what I should've done a long time ago, SS'd my bike! Feels and looks great but the on-one SS kit is really shit as it doesn't let you adjust the chain line very well at all. So I need some better spacers and probably a new chain, but other than that I'm ready for this ride 🙂

Only on-road. I've been riding an SS 48-16 road bike for the past 2 months and can get up all the road climbs around here now. 32-16 on 26" is way easier to pedal so I should be ok 🙂

Points and laughs at Tazzy.

Tom I think it's more the head angle that is being discussed rather than the gearing! Slack head angles suk at climbing!
2:1 will be fine for the FOD as I won't be taking you all up any massive climbs.

It's a 71 degree head angle according to the dmr site! Forks wind in to 110mm anyway.

Excellent 🙂 Thinking about bringing my full face as well so I can have a razz on some of the dh runs afterwards depending how long this ride is.

There's better trails there than the DH runs if you know where to look.

Keeps your eyes open when you are dwon here and you'll spot a lady cyclist who matches those pics above. Shes out several times a week I reckon. Bloody well done.
With the chance of a pint as well I reckon I'm going to have to finally SS my old Hardrock. Rigid forks and cantis. It's very dark up through the woods though after a few pints though and the piggies are about Parkend at the moment. 😯

"There's better trails there than the DH runs if you know where to look"

Oooh sounds exciting. FoD is like a mysteron wrapped in an enema to those not in the know. I've been avoiding it like it's a dark nebula containing a black hole I may never escape from.

I'm only started SS 5 weeks ago at 32:20 which has been OK if a bit frustrating on the flat bits. I tried 32:17 a week ago just curious like, and found climbing the Mendips awful, so have gone back - I'm not hard enough yet.

32:20 on 26 or 29er?
There's not too much flat on my route so feel free to come, I won't be racing and want a more social pace!

Taz, where'd you get that video of Sofaking from?
