Rob, maybe our versions of fun are different? It looks good to me, nice and fast, with a few sections you have think about a bit more... I really want my new bike to be built up by then... I'm going to agree with pool, the suns gonna be out and everything. I can just tell 🙂

I'm extremely interested in these stickers though. Of I bought frame ones as well would I becom 126% faster? I could be the new Steve peat!

Andy, Jacobs is far from fast - haven't you ridden it before? It's a technical rocky challenge, but great great fun. Pinch flat central though so bring spare tubes

Up for this guys - my first STW outing.

It's actually the last ride I did in the peaks in mid-November; but it is a cracker.

See you there (Custard Soul-green decal)

I'm just hoping I'm not too slow - down and up. Where's this burger place? May make me go faster!

topangarider in the middle of the last climb towards Jacobs you will see me suddenly pickup speed and disappear* 😀

*Technically speaking either to the back to fix multiple punctures or off the front seeking burgers..

I've got this one in my diary now, so hopefully I'll be there. Looking forward to a burger this time 🙂

Anyone need a lift from Nottingham?

Simon (brown Kona - fast on the ups but slow on the downs 😉 )

Shall we actually have name badges this time? Dan was ever so prepared last time and as a result I've easily remembered his name...

"Try using MAXXIS tyres"
Do you mean wire bead maxxis tyres?

Try using maxxis 1.2mm/freeride inner tubes, they're a bit more difficult to pinchflat, though I've still managed it, with wire bead maxxis

I may be there, I may not. I'd like to come, but I'll have to see whether I can get myself there or not

Pooks got it. Your just darn-right wierd Will.

James- folding, single ply Maxxis. I tend to use Ardent on the rear (2.25) or a 2.35 Swampthing (singleply)- All tyres at 30psi and Im 100kg. I've no idea how they dont pinchflat 😕 probably wider rims? (321 mavic's).

😆 Cheers Pook.

I'm on about my full bouncer though, all 6.5" of travel too. Never get pinch flats on the SS, mainly due to going too slow 🙁

Fair enough. I can still pinch flat my folding (2.35") HRs if I don't keep the pressure up, though they do seem a bot better than for eg folding Kendas

Right (gulp) lets see how I get on. I will STILL be on those Ardents that have shot-sidewalls as well.

adey205

I'm in Mansfield and I'm thinking of going - I think my chest infection has just about cleared up so I should be up for this.

If I have the added commitment of providing a lift for someone then I'm much more likely to make the effort.

Drop me an email.

looking forward to this now 🙂 thanks to the persuasion of bunnyhop, and lending of the bike from will for a short while, fellmarvin collected his scott cx team yesterday, as ridden by Fred Salmon in the 3 peaks last year. and for an absolute bargain considering the spec on it is better than standard. different rims and fsa k force cranks are some of the upgrades on it, but it could be lighter still if te tyres were changed. i still dont have my brake back though 🙁

Sad that I won't be seeing the new bike sambob - you and your Dad enjoy. I'm pretty sure I'll get to ride the next 'pook pootle' after this one, the last one really was great fun.

Pook, I've pushed/ ridden up Jacobs twice... It really didn't look that technical to me... There's only a couple of corners. We'll find out soon enough though...

Theres an answer to your pinch flat worries! Tubeless!

Sam bob, do you nerd to borrow a rear brake?

It'd also take 3 times as much faff to swap tyres to suit the ride though too ? ..

I've always pushed upto the second gate then I ride the rest (50%) slowly then minced down the downy bits. At the little bridge shaken my sore-wrists/arms, grinned and acted as though I was some sort of DH-god in my head 😆

Brilliant, riding In snow soon lost it's novelty with me... Looks like I'll be coming up on my own again as my friends lack commitment...

If anyone needs a lift from the south east area, let me know but I will be going up friday night...

I've got a spare room (in manchester, probably about 50 minutes drive from the start point) if anyone intends to drive up the night before and needs a place to kip.

Tempted, not done jacobs loop for a few months 🙂

been out today and it's very wet, all the hardpack trails are just a mess of clay 🙁 Jacobs is a nice rocky loop though so should avoid most of the mud, except for the climb upto Mam Tor and along Rushup Edge. That'll be good balance pratice

couple of questions though, what route are you doing? and, will i be able to keep up? not ridden since i had my appendix out a few weeks back and wouldnt want to slow you all down.

im going to try a bit of pedalling and stuff down the gym this week so if that goes well ill prob join in.

AndyPaice Exactly!

slowrider- what does the doctor say? Its the Kinder Circuit out of the VGraphics Dark peak book. You wont slow us down. See how you feel- personally I'd have a quick blast on something rocky this week if I was you to see how your body copes with vibration/potentially falling off?

Doctor Quack.

No photos but heres a description:
Kinder Circuit
A superb, ultra-challenging route with a real 'wilderness feel'. It builds up to a spectacular finale crossing a 540m high shoulder of Kinder Scout and descending Jacob's Ladder.
Route Grade: hard / extreme. Distance: 22km.

Personally I think its brilliant as its a xc route that can be both swooping, technical and offers something to those who like climbing without putting off the pushers 😀

slowrider- we are approaching it the steady climb way though (you CAN push. If I see anyone pushing I will automatically stay with them). Not because I'm good that way, just because I'm part lazy/unfit.

steady climb goes up the back to edale cross before dropping all the way down jacobs to a burger and a pint. You're more than welcome slowrider!

Same as we did on your dads birthday ride last year slowrider, but without the drop down into Hayfield (and without your mental bro buzzing my tyre!)
Would like to come along too but these "Pooks Peak(s) pootle" rides have been every three weeks so far, which happen to coincide with my daughters weekends, so what do I do stw people?
Well done for putting these together Pook (but can you please make the next one in 2 or 4 weeks time?) 🙂
